cars come past this spot very quickly and much fewer cars go north from here as it gets less touristy but still possible

Alright. We need to talk about this place, because you will eventually end up here, if you are heading North to South on the 40. One thing first: Most cars will head to the coast since they try to bypass the 100 km gravel road towards Tres Lagos. When I arrived I met another hitchhiker who already waited two days to get to Chalten and then decided to take the bus. I waited here from 12 pm til 8 pm, then headed to the free Municipal Camping. Next day from 5 am til 2pm no ride to Tres Lagos: Many cars stopped and told me they only went up to the estancia, but no way would continue on the 40. Eventually I gave up El Chalten and took a ride to Gallegos. It's a 400 km way, but you can get dropped of at the police post there and take the 5 towards El Calafate (another 300 km). That went incredibly quick. In Rio Gallegos I immediately got a car to Rio Turbio where I headed instead (El Calafate should be similarly easy). I know...it's 700 km, but better to drive for 6 or 7 hours than spending two days at this spot. If someone of you get's to this place...can you send me a picture of my nice poetry work on the Tres Lagos sign (obviously I almost went insane there :DDDD)
